Do a Makeup Case Inventory

Filed under: Makeup — admin @ 10:42 pm

You freshen your wardrobe regularly and do an inventory of your closet regularly, so why not your makeup case? Makeup does not last forever so more often than not, you will have products in your case that really should not be there. In fact, using old, expired face cosmetic products can be harmful.

When you examine the contents of your makeup case, one of the first things you should do is throw out anything that looks weird – discoloration or changes in texture for example – and smells bad. In general, most face cosmetics can be kept for a year although some items, such as mascara and liquid eyeliner, have a shelf life of 3-6 months. If you use products that contain only natural ingredients, the shelf life will be even shorter. So do your research when making purchases, and use common sense.

After you have thrown out makeup items that are unusable, it is time to turn your attention to items that you do not use. If you have not used a product in more than three months, it might be time to think about whether the item is worth keeping. If it is able to be used by another person, such as with a nail color, you might want to see if a friend would be interested in it. Other items, such as lipstick and eye makeup, should not be shared; these will have to be thrown away.

When you have cleared out your case of items that you do not use, you should be left with items that are usable and that you do use frequently. Make a list of these items for easy reference when it is time to replace them. This is especially helpful since many companies have multiple selections and product lines, making it difficult to find favorite items.

Another thing that might make your makeup management easier is getting a proper case to store your makeup. Rather than throwing all of your makeup in a cosmetic bag, you might want to consider something that will be more organized. There are many types of makeup cases available but something like a makeup train case or a professional case – where there are storage slots and space for every item – are the best way to stay organized.

Imagine how wonderful it would be if all of your eye makeup is grouped and stored together in one section, and your lip makeup in another! No more fumbling around for items in a seemingly bottomless bag. Makeup cases are compact, have multiple storage compartments, and sometimes even mirrors with lighting!

If a full-size professional makeup case is too much for your needs, you should consider a smaller version, like a makeup brush case, since brushes should be kept clean and separated. No matter what case you decide on, do make sure you are vigilant in organizing and managing your makeup. The fun aspect of doing inventory on your makeup is that you get to play with products and new looks and of course, after throwing out unusable items, you have an excuse to go shopping to freshen up your makeup inventory

Natural Nails

Fingernails are the most noticeable parts of the hand and one of the most evident indicators to how you treat yourself.  Taking the time and effort to take care of your nail tips is not always easy, though.  Here are some things you can do to make you natural nails stay healthy and look good.  If you opt for fake nails, there is some additional advice.

The most important thing that you can do is to take the time to take care of the nails.  Apply nail hardener to protect them splitting and peeling.  Using vitamin E supplements strengthen nails and also allow your nails to grow longer.  If you are a nail biter, most definitely stop.

Wide nail bases tend can be slimmed by rounding the nail into an oval shape, where as narrower nail beds look stronger with a square shape.  When rounding nails, pastels and neutral nail polishes look better and narrow, squared nails typically look better with a darker shade.

Don’t apply enamel under a fan.  To produce quality results, apply three coats of frosted enamel followed by two coats of matte enamel.  Avoid using acetone polish remover because it will eat away at your nails.

Avoid cutting the cuticles because it will cause your nails to weaken and possibly crack.  When cleaning under the nails, never use anything other than warm, soapy water and a soft bristle nail brush.

Always use moisturizer and lotions daily and every night.

If you can, get a manicure at least once a week.  You can have it in pretty much any beauty salon and you can combine it with another treatment, for example a face cosmetic one, they can be done together so to save a good amount of timeTreatment to the nail tips and particularly the cuticles can stimulate nail growth.  When filing, do not go from side to side but rather start in a corner and work toward the center in one direction.

Fake Nails

If you have chosen to use fake, acrylic nail tips rather than real ones, there are some extra steps you will have to take to ensure that you maximize their lives.

Try to keep your hands dry.  When you do wash your hands, use antibacterial soap and limit exposure to other types of soaps and chemicals.  However, wash your hands frequently because bacteria effects can be worse than the damage to the fake nails.  If you must use chemicals or frequently wet your hands, use rubber gloves.  Not only will rubber gloves keep your hands dry, they will also prevent accidental damages such as chips and cracks.

Another way to keep your false nail tips clean is to use rubbing alcohol at least once daily.  This will cleanse the area without exposing them to water.  If this dulls the nail polish, polish can be reapplied.

If you damage the fake nails, seek professional help.  Head to a nail specialist for cleansing and repairs if you chip or crack your nails.

Whether you want to grow natural nail tips or have fake nail tips put on, there are some basic things that you can do to take care of them.  The key thing is that you spend a little time and effort, and the results will go an incredibly long way.

Lip Makeup – Create Your Own Facial Style

Filed under: Makeup — admin @ 9:26 pm

Lipstick and lip makeup go back as far as 5,000 years to an ancient city near Babylon. Women would pulverize semi-precious stones and smear the powdery substance on their lips. Ancient Egyptian women squeezed out a purple-red color from iodine and bromide. Applying that color to their lips often resulted in significant and sometimes, deadly diseases. That became known as the “kiss of death.”  According to legend, Cleopatra made her lipstick from carmine beetles that were often mixed with ant eggs. To provide shimmer to the lip stick, fish scales were mixed into the color. In 1770, the Parliament of England outlawed the use of lipstick. Women who seduced men by means of wearing lipstick could be tried as witches. Thankfully, lipstick has come a long way from the days of old.

Sometimes your lips just say it all. When looking at a face, most people look at the eyes or lips first. Carefully applied lip makeup will define your lips. You do not want that definition to scream “Bozo” or “Grandma,” unless that is the look you are trying to achieve. Makeup for lips should complement the rest of your face cosmetic makeup and add to the look you want or the statement you wish to make. Carefully choosing the right color is essential as the application. You want to be sure your choice of lip cosmetic will look attractive for the duration of event or occasion you may attending. Take into consideration your skin coloring when choosing a shade of lipstick. If you have light skin, a dark lip color will make you appear more washed than you actually are. Of course, by utilizing foundation and blush to darken your skin tone, you can use a dark lip color without adverse results.

If you are worried that lip cosmetics will cause your teeth to look yellow, choose a lip color that has blue undertones. That will offset the yellowish appearance of your teeth. Once you have chosen the color, pick out the lip liner and gloss. If your lips are thin, you can give them fullness by applying your lips makeup just outside the top and bottom lip border. If your lips are thick, you can minimize the thickness by lining your lips just inside the top and bottom lip border. If you are striving for the pouty, sultry look, consider lining your bottom lip with a thin band of lip liner.

Makeup Llip gloss is used to give lips a glossy luster. It comes in liquid or soft solid form. It can be clear or opaque, plain, glittery, or have a metallic finish. Lip gloss is applied with an applicator or if your choice of gloss comes in a stick form, it is applied similar to lip stick. Makeup lip gloss is a cosmetic but it can also offer protection from a variety of weather elements or act as a moisturizer. Lip glosses with additives are used to create different effects. Glitter added to lip gloss creates the illusion of fun, fun, fun and a metallic look might be perfect for that rock-star look.
