Skin Tightening: Different Methods of Choice

Filed under: Skin Health — admin @ 10:03 pm

For people who would like a bit less character in their face, mostly due to aging and other factors, skin tightening is a really good way to smooth the face, in order to feel youthful and rejuvenated again.  There are a few different methods of skin tightening, however, and for some people one is better than the others. Through each method, the same desired affect can be achieved, only by a different means.  All methods of skin tightening are normally done in a salon or spa, although some can be done in the comfort of one’s home.

One of the most common skin tightening methods is laser skin tightening. This is done with a laser, which basically utilizes infra-red light to heat collagen, which lies beneath the skin surface. Once the collagen is heated, the skin begins to tighten, immediately. People love this method due to the instantaneous results.  This face cosmetic method lasts for about 4 months. It is highly recommended to have at least 3-4 treatments, in order to get the best results possible.  This is a non-surgical procedure and can be done in a salon or dermatologist’s office, depending on your choice.  It can be a little expensive, normally costing $500-$3,500 per patient, depending on how much skin will be treated, etc.

Another method, which costs about $75-$150 on average, is the use of a skin tightening cream. Many of today’s creams, available over-the-counter in drugstores, have patented formulas that work with the skin to help rejuvenate it, giving it a more youthful, supple appearance. There are many different types of creams, and some can contain ingredients a person could be allergic to, so caution is advised. These creams normally produce mild results within 4-6 weeks, when applied daily, so the results are not as instantaneous.

Thermage skin tightening is one of the most advanced methods of skin tightening today. It utilizes Radio Frequency (RF) technology to alternately penetrate and heat the collagen under the skin, and cool the out side of the skin, producing an amazing result that lasts for about the same duration laser surgery does, but sometimes longer, due to stimulating collagen rejuvenation, which is an extra thing that it does.  It cost between $2,500-$3,500, depending on how much skin is to be treated, and is normally done at a salon or dermatology office.

Titan skin tightening is another infra-red procedure, with the goal of both contracting current collagen levels and stimulating new collagen production, largely in areas around the face (jaw line and chin), neck and on the stomach, too.  It is normally done by a dermatologist and can last, with yearly treatments about 3-4 months apart, on a continuous basis, since the treatments constantly stimulate collagen production.  The cost is about $1,000-$4,000, depending largely on where you are located.

Skin tightening creams are obviously the less expensive choice, when it comes to skin tightening. The other procedures, while all fairly costly, do offer faster results as well as the potential for long-term effectiveness, due to maintenance largely.  If you are looking into this, you can look online for some of the best results.
