Layered Hairstyles – The Way to Show Off Your Stylish Self

Layered hairstyles are just what the name says. Your hair is cut to different lengths, the shortest being the top layer and the longest being the bottom layer. Layered hairstyles can be long, short, or anywhere in between.  Adding layers to your hair can give you a different look without changing your hairstyle. The layered look is not flashy. It is subdued yet highly fashionable. Layering a hairdo will add the look of volume to your hair. For those with thinning hair, the layered look may be right for you.

A choppy layered hairstyle is one that is created by razoring the hair. The hair is first cut in layers then a razor is used to give it the ragged, wispy, and almost unkempt look. A choppy layered hairstyle works well with most face shapes. They are brought to attention easily and your hair can be ready at a moment’s notice. The choppy layered look is extremely versatile and looks equally convincing on men and women.

A bob is a haircut that is trimmed straight around your head and length are somewhere between the bottom of your ear to your chin. If you have multiple chins, this is meant to refer to the first chin when designating hair length. A bob usually features bangs. There are several different styles of bob haircuts but by adding the choppy layered look to it, you have a whole new ball game. It adds a modern twist to an old, standard hairdo. By adding highlights to your layered haircut, your hairstyle will be more fashionable.

Medium length hair is shoulder length. It is an extremely manageable length with a lot of possibilities, utilizing hair bands, clips, and barrettes. A medium layered hairstyle will add definition and dimension to your hairstyle. Highlights of contrasting color will add a degree of pizzazz and be eye-catching. The drawback to medium-length layering is if you decide the cut is not for you or you want a complete change of hairstyle, it will take a while to grow out. An option is to have your hair cut extremely short to achieve a uniform length and start growing your hair to a medium length again.

It is possible to have that layered look with exceptionally long hair. Long hair is defined as hair below shoulder length and longer. Layered hairstyles for long hair work well for those with thick hair. Layering will reduce the volume of hair and take away the puffy head look. It will allow long hair to be more manageable for those with unruly and renegade hair. An amazing difference in appearance will take place by changing a part from the middle to the side of your hair. Hair pulled forward or combed back will restyle your face and hide your eyes or let your eyes sparkle and shine just as a face cosmetic treatment would do. Long hairstyles, layered or not, take a bit of extra care and maintenance but the time spent styling your hair will be well worth the look layering will give.
